JOB FUNCTION:
Originates permanent FHA/VA and conventional residential mortgage loans and participates in related business development activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Solicits residential first mortgages through contacts with realtors, builders, and developers.
Provides service to customers and prospective customers seeking residential mortgage loans.
Interviews applicants to develop information concerning their needs, desires, and earnings to assist in determining whether the loan will be an acceptable risk; obtains and analyzes pertinent financial and credit data.
Arranges for appraisals of residential properties and title searches, obtains necessary documents.
Approves or rejects loans, referring larger loans to senior officers or loan committee if applicable.
Follows current loans to ensure conformity with terms.
Negotiates terms and conditions of loan with mortgagors.
Keeps informed of trends and developments in the local real estate market, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to booth private and government insured mortgages.
Calls on potential or existing customers as assigned to develop new business or retain existing business.
Performs all other duties/special projects as assigned.
Incumbent is required to comply will all applicable federal, state and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the bank Secrecy Act.
Incumbent is responsible for organizational integrity and business ethics as it relates to this position, and communicating this commitment to any applicable subordinates.
Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or an equivalent amount of related training and experience. A college degree and/or the successful completion of business administration, accounting and/or finance courses is preferred.
2 years of mortgage lending origination, business development, or sales experience.
2 years of mortgage banking experience in a processing, closing, or underwriting environment.
Experience in a consumer lending decision making capacity or in mortgage loan analysis.
MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of PC software systems and mortgage lending applications.
Thorough understanding of all mortgage lending products and services.
Thorough understanding of local mortgage lending market and overall mortgage lending industry.
Thorough understanding of federal and state regulations governing he mortgage lending industry.
Basic understanding of financial and credit data.
Strong knowledge of the following regulations and/or acts:
