A: Whitney sells 96 foreign currencies at all of our branches including Euros, Pounds Sterling, Japanese Yen, Mexican Pesos, Australian Dollars and many more. Simply walk into your local branch and ask a Whitney Banker how you can purchase foreign currency. Remember to plan ahead. Currencies typically take 1-3 business days to be delivered to your local branch, but we recommend purchasing your currency at least a week before your scheduled departure date. Need currency today? Several Whitney branches carry an inventory of major currencies and may be able to provide you with foreign currency today.

Q: Should I take any cash with me when traveling overseas?

A: Yes. It is always a good idea to purchase some of the local currency (we suggest $500 worth) before traveling to a foreign country for taxis and other immediate needs when you land. Travelers Cheques and your Whitney ATM and Visa Check Card are also easy ways to purchase currency and other items abroad.

A: Yes, the Whitney will exchange paper foreign currency from 96 different countries at any branch, but not foreign coins.

A: Yes, Whitney can send checks denominated in foreign currency drawn on foreign banks for collection.  Ask your Whitney Banker for more details.

A: You can contact Whitney's Trading Desk and talk with one of our knowledgeable traders. They have access to current market information as well as historical data.

A: The foreign currency rates quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal are taken as of a specific time from the previous business day's market and usually relate to transactions of one million U.S. dollars or more
